1962年生于湖北，毕业于湖北美术学院和中央美术学院。现任文联中国画创新委员会主席、文联中国画创新委员会中国书画创新研究院院长、文化部中国画新材质新技法课题研究组特聘专家、清华大学中国画高研班新材料、新技法教学导师、教授。国家一级美术师、中国书画研究院院士，张大千真传弟子，美术教育家。被授予“中国艺术事业成就贡献奖”荣誉称号。

Yu Zuobin was born in Hubei in 1962 and graduated from the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts and Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently the President of the Chinese Painting Innovation Committee and Director of the Institute of Chinese Painting Innovation at the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Special Expert of the Ministry-of-Culture-led research program on the material and technique innovation of Chinese painting, and supervisor and professor of teaching material and technique innovation at the Advanced Chinese Painting Workshop of Tsinghua University. He is also a National Class A Artist, Academician of the Institute of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, pupil of Zhang Daqian, educator in the fine arts and recipient of the 'Award of Contribution and Achievement in Chinese Art'.

Art description:

This series of work adopts the leakage-mark ink and wash painting technique, solving the long-standing contradiction between tradition and innovation in Chinese painting and the difficulties found in perfecting the integration of Chinese and Western painting. This series broke the public’s stereotypical impression of Chinese ink and wash landscape painting by not only retaining the traditional ink charm of Chinese painting but also refining, sublimating and innovating on Chinese landscape painting’s technique of expressing various elements in nature. This series of works titled Meditation on Nature originates from the ever-changing beautiful views in nature and ingeniously integrates concrete, abstract and imaginary elements. The static images reproduce dynamic clouds and mist as well as mountains and rocks. These natural views come across as a dreamlike wonderland, expressing a kind of supernatural aesthetic concept.
