Graduating from the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, with a bachelor’s degree, and recommended for admission into the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, to study for master’s degree in the same year, he won the “National Endeavor Fellowship” and the “Tsinghua Friend – Samvo Shung Fai Chan Scholarship”.

古人云“仁者乐山，智者乐水”，山水之乐乃是古今很多文人画家的精神依托和人格象征，其中蕴含着深厚中国传统哲学思想。艺术家以山水为题材创作了系列作品，想将传统的山水中那种宁静致远、空灵通透的意境，通过雕塑作品传递给观者；让传统文化中深厚的山水人文情怀，融入当代人的生活中。

Art description:

Confucius said 'The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills'. The appreciation of the natural landscape as the embodiment of the ideal personality has been of vital importance in many literati paintings which are steeped in traditional Chinese philosophical thinking. The same motif can also be found in the series of works by artist Huang Qicheng, who aimed to transmit the sense of fruitful solitude and the revelation of non-existence, which are inherent in traditional Chinese interpretations of landscape, to the contemporary audience through the medium of sculptural art, and help people partake of the aesthetic and philosophical meanings of the landscape in traditional culture.
